Do some women actually like short men?

I'm currently 17 and 5'6" KHHV. Many people have told me to give up on love and just accept being alone because of my height and looks. Some people have said that some women actually do like shorter men, but I haven't seen any real examples of this where they aren't just saying it for attention while having a 6 ft+ bf. Do I just give up?
