I don’t believe in free will in a metaphysical sense. The universe is deterministic or at least probabilistic: there is no soul that operates outside of physical causality. That means: I am the product of my genes, my experiences, and my environment. That may sound nihilistic but it is not for me. The conclusion I draw from it is the opposite: if nothing is cosmically meaningfull then the only meaning is the one I actively create. So I create it consciously. Albert Camus was right: the only honest response to absurdity is to Rebell at aginst it
