Do we still not have a reason for why colouring is important in attraction?

We know it is.
For instance, coloured eyes or black hair don't require any more resources to attain or maintain than other eye or hair colours, but they are still obviously ideal.

dedsrs would like to hear some highiqcels

black hair makes u look dark triad since we associate dark with dangerous and when ur dangerous girls will like u since u can fight. For the blue eyes idk tbh.

yeah well why
that's as good as saying blue eyes look amazing

got other examples? afaik this is an exception, while pretty much everything else has some possible reason

Nah bro. Looking dangerous is good since it signals u can fight enemies and protect her. I dont have an explanation for blue eyes.

iqcel?

my question is why does black hair make you look dark triad in the first place
you can't derive an argument for something from something that's unjustified jfl

Because its dark. We associate dark with dangerous. Which is why more people are afraid of the dark than light.

dark coloured hair is good because it's dark... this reasoning wouldn't work even if the following were ideal:

too dark skin isn't ideal
neither is dark eyes

Peacock is easiest example.
Male feathers and courting.
Females actively select for males with bright colourful large feathers.
This was thought to be an evolutionary advantage it was hypothesised that only the most healthy, well fed (proper nutrition) and well developed peacocks could have the energy expenditure and resources to facililate such features hence indicated good genes/survival fitness.
However there seems to be no connection between the overall health of the peacock and the colour of its feathers, all evidence points to it being an independent genetic trait unaffected by others.
But thats contradictory why?
You get a large almost flightless bird and give it such coloured feathers surely its a drawback.
And yes its found that peacocks with brighter feathers fall prey to predators at a higher rate (ik human colouring isnt like that but you get my point)
Its also found that peacocks that inhabit places with more predators have less bright feathers despite this females still select for it
The females literally prefer it just because they do, whether it be they are more striking or whatever but it doesn't serve as a survival tool and no evolutionary advantage other than attracting mates.

Too dark makes u look too dangerous jfl. It should be balanced which is why black skin doesnt look good, plus we find black skin even uglier since of colonization and shit

I mean its true. Dark seems dangerous, I mean more people will walk during the daytime compared to nighttime since its safer.
i think dark hair etc has to do with T lvls because when your young your hair is lighter and becomes darker when you go through puberty

So better have dark skin as well, to look dangerous from every pore?

Looks too dangerous. Tanned white skin is ideal.

Dark hair is striking when coupled with blue eyes and provides contrast. There is no reason for attraction beyond that. This is the same reason why we objectively and innately prefer more colorful and unique patterns. It attracts attention and looks unique. There is no evolutionary benefit and there shouldnt need to be,

By the same logic, why do most women find bald men unattractive? Evolutionary it doesn’t matter, in fact, it’s a sign of high dht. Why do JBs love pretty boys and not masculine ogres? Humans aren’t entirely logical creatures.

Another thing to understand is that yes, looking dangerous IS a valid reasoning. Women arent actually geniuses who have been imprinted from their birth on what to seek out in a male, that’s not how evolution works. There are many masculine things which don’t provide a benefit. Dark hair looks threatening, threatening = strong. Strong means that the partner will protect you. This is how cavewomen thought, they didn’t actually think “oh his clavicle lengths is 22 inches so he can reach far in a fight”.

We associate darker things with being threatening due to the subconcious associating with the darkness itself, Cavemen were scared of the night due to predators, as such, darker things became a symbol of fear and dominance.

It’s a combination of social conditioning and rarity, not a biological thing. We’re all brought up in a world where white = attractive due to the media and other things and coloured eyes or hair is associated with whites.

Secondly, it comes down to rarity. If you go to Sweden, you get points for not having blue eyes or blonde hair since it’s so fucking common. Meanwhile if you have that in America, you’re seen as attractive and stand out.

Babies don’t prefer white faces any more than non white faces, which is all you need to know that it’s all social conditioning.

Actually, there’s a simple explanation for that. Balding is generally a common sign of aging and the older you are, the more likely you are to bald. The older you are though, the less T, and the less healthy you are.

Balding isn't just high DHT though. It's also bad diet, sleep, skull shape etc so it makes sense why it would be unnattractive, since it signals bad health.

This tbh, balding can signal to a female the male is stressed, is diseased, has an auto immune problem, has a poor hormonal profile, is aged, loss of vitality.

No other species of animals has this problem tbh.

It's almost if some males are just genetically programmed to fail.

With evolutionary psychology you can make sense of everything and you can debunk everything. It's not reliable. I don't think that there is much logic in some mating choices.

Tanned dark skin means less sun damage, thick dark hair means whatever hair stands for, dark simply cause dark looks thicker than light, bright eyes for better vision in the dark

With that reasoning you can justify everything.
Women like dark skin = less sun damage
Women like light skin = costly signal that shows you can survive with an handicap, just like the peacock does with his tail.

I'm starting to think evolutionary psychology is mostly bullshit.

high contrast draws attention (like peacocks) -> if attractive, raises it even more

probably why things such as colored eyes or red lips are almost universally desired, rather than just among white ppl

It is like birds. Often the most coloured and beautiful bird have much more higher sexual intercourses than other. But in the same time he can be eaten by predators easily too. There is no logic in it.

There are things that are attractive becaues they are beneficial for natural life: Good jaw, hollow cheeks, prominent brow ridge, muscles, tall

There are things that are attractive for aesthetic reasons: Eye colour, skin colour, hairstyle, hair type, 'unique' features on already good looking people (beauty mark or cleft chin)

There are also things that are attractive because they can fake beneficial things: Eyelashes can make pfl look longer, mustache can hide long philtrum

I should add that the aesthetic reasons are usually uniqueness or contrast.

They show that you have very good craniofacial development and that you’re very lean.
You can have some level of hollow cheeks without these but ideally you need all: wide jaw, wide high prominent cheekbones, forward growth, and to be lean.

The other components of hollow cheeks are good because they show that you developed well and are probably healthy and strong and don’t have respiratory diseases.

Bright shiny eyes signal health, blue eyes make your eyes bright

Strong, dark features draw you in, that just how colours work, at the most basic physics level, probably some evolutionary shit there, dark craves drew us in to get ambushed by other mogger cavemen and shit, it represents the unknown.

The blue eyes thing, outside Asia, only really works if it's contrasted by dark features (if Hemsworth had truly light blond Nordic hair. And light skin he won't be the blue eyed mogger he is).

In the west the only think u need to be weary of is if u have dark features don't be potentially ethnic, and have to deal with all the crap and failos that come with it (dirty, poor, uncivilised, undeveloped, bad smell, rapey, etc), the way to do it is prime Colin Farrell
