Do you believe that someone who moves to another country no matter their skin colour, ethnicity or culture they can assimilate into that country and society? And in doing so those that make them part of that society?

Example let’s say @Xangsane moved to Vietnam and lived there for a decade he learnt the language he partakes in the culture does that make him Viet now?

That is impossible. Because both parties (the immigrant and the native) deeply distrust eachother . What you describe is only possible if they are from a similar background with the same culture and traditions.

Peaceful coexistence is possible if the immigrant is flexible enough, and the native patient. But complete assimilation is impossible without the proper background.

Really depends on the person. Even a first generation immigrant can assimilate under some circumstances. I've got relatives that moved to the land of the free and the home of the brave when they were in their early to mid twenties and they are pretty much American by now, though that may be an outlier because of the special status America has in regards to immigration.

I guess the more closed off a society is, like for example Scandinavian countries or the Germanic ones, the harder it will be to assimilate.

Also obviously the immigrant has to actually want to assimilate and not just be a leech.

yeah, just ban male immigration. Assimilating ethnic women sounds great
