Personally I do not believe yet I think it's important for society to have a religion. Up until around the 70's, 80's people were way more religious, in turn had larger families with lower divorce rates. Now in every industrialized country, atheism is rising and so are divorces, and birth rates are well below replacement level, especially in Western Europe and Eastern Asia. However, in undeveloped nations, were religion is still of importance, birth rates continue to rise and the population continues to grow.

first world countries are majorly atheistic for they no longer need simple rudimentary explanations for certain topics or questions, and they're too prosperous for necessity in higher beings and afterlifes
