Me too, but people misinterpret what determinism really is.
Eh, you have Daniel Denett types who argue for free will within determinism. And then you have the others who argue against that position.

only people who believe in religion are the ones who have complete lack of critical thinking and low iq. if ur intelligent youll find a better way to cope like a severe drug addiction or alcoholism:lul:

religion was an inter dimensional form of domestication for the human species

it holds some nuggets of metaphysical truth but there's no point in worshiping x deities anymore or following any religious social norms

I'm not really deep into the topic, but free will doesn't make sense to me.

Every decision we take is a product of either our genetics and environment, there isn't any third factor that causes any coincidental changes or ability to select your own decisions independently without any causal reason.

Hard determinism aka Baruch Spinoza's determinism. Also tied to Laplace Demon

Laplace Demon is a theoritical machine that could the predict past and current states of our reality, should it know the position and velocity of all atoms in the universe

first ill start off with saying im athiest so i dont care about debating but God might exist even with suffering and ill explain why and also answer some common questions asked by athiests. without suffering in this world u cant truly be happy , if everything is good the word happiness loses its meaning and the we just take every day for granted. "but what about the children who die of cancer , they didnt do anything " yes , they are innocent but God had nothing to do with him being sick. he could have gotten it from his genes , from his mothers habits while he was in the womb or other external factors after he was born. "if God is real why doesnt He show Himself" that just destroys the point of believing in a Higher Being , the whole point in believing is not having any concrete proof , just faith. if God showed himself to the entire of humanity , faith would be destroyed , people would just believe in hopes of ending up in Heaven or a better afterlife.

I prefer Hume's arguments for free will
god/the source/the monad has free will = you are god/the source/the monad therefore you have free will

materialism/hard determinism btfo

i see your standpoint but imma be honest these arguments flop considering there's multiple religions each claiming to be the ultimate truth , if the whole world was unified under 1 religion it would definitely make more sense to me but the fact there's multiple makes it lose credibility because it just becomes a battle of beliefs which makes no sense

i do agree, some of the religious people that i know would often take religion into consideration or their action are always strictly inline to their religion when making a decision even if it doesn't really make sense or making it a bad decision because of it

that's why i like "separation of church and state"

Can you tell me what his argument was? I am not familiar.
Hume defines the cause and effect as necessity. But he states that man makes decisions due to motive and character which is pre destined. Now where things go differently is where he defines liberty aka free will. According to him free will is not related to previous causation but rather the ability to make choices without external constraints. Since the external constraints in his metaphysics are not tied to causation, free will is compatible with determinism

believe in whatever u want , or dont its ur choice but come on u cant seriously give this argument :feelsuhh: if u read the quaran for muslims u would see how flawed it is , aisha being married at 6 years old with a 54 year old man , women being inferior to men , innocent dogs being killed for being a specific race cant possibly be the ultimate truth ,buddha also said hes not god so he cant possibly be the ultimate truth , and i dont know about hinduism to say if its flawed or not

what was the big bang predetermined by? how can you conclude all of existence is deterministic if we don't even know if cause -> effect is plausible and applicable to everything

That is just the ability to do what one wills and one still has no control over what one wills.
Shopenhauer said that man can do what he wants but he can not want what he wants, and I think its the truth.
Thanks for the explanation.

it doesnt bother me im just saying that believing in something with 0 proof which was made up by the same people who believed in vampires and burned people cause they were ''witches'' isnt probs the best source and u shouldnt take it as the objective truth

The start of a chain of predetermined events is not necessarily supposed to predetermined. There is no rule that the start of this cause and effect universe mandatorily needs a cause itself.

i think every religions are flawed , what i meant is what makes a christian's unprovable beliefs better than a muslim's unprovable beliefs , it just goes in circle with no substancial proof and multiple parties claiming the truth as a beliver you will never have the certitude to have the right faith so what would be the point
