I still remember going out for a run in a neighbour in SF and people waving at me and wishing me good morning have a nice day etc. i even made a thread about it

Random people come up to me and tell me have a good day in U.S

Just got back from my morning run and like 5-6 random runners and people passing by smiled and waved at me and greeted me with a "Good morning" or "Have a good day" out of nowhere. Is this a normal thing in the U.S? Like people randomly come up to me to make small talk and talj about about...

I think genuine kindness and decency go beyond fear of punishment. Most people I've met were respectful because they chose to be, not because they were forced to.
