I think about it a lot, who and what i could've been if i took different choices and went different paths in my life. It's by all means a "dwell in the past" kind of thought.

You know, like thinking to yourself "if i did x sooner i could've been x"

I like to think about how my OWN actions dictated my life to the worse, and how it could've been different. And it hurts even more when you realise how a small choice could've lead your life into a better path.

And while i am sad about it, i dont dwell on it. Instead, I take that thought and choose to learn from it.

How about you guys, do you ever think about it? @Jason Voorhees @TechnoBoss @Gengar @Luca_.

About what choices?

the starting sooner is what gets me.. starting gym sooner, starting caring sooner, starting studying sooner and all of those stuff.

Everybody does, and it's only bad if you get fixated on the 'what ifs' instead of moving forward

probably the biggest ones would be what if i locked in when i made this account?, what would i be like if i was going to college and not trade school, starting gym and diet sooner, what if i was more popular ect. kinda just things like that but ive been trying to just focus on what i can change and control

Definitely. The "If I did x sooner things would've been so much better" thoughts plague me sometimes. But the past is the past, can't keep dwelling on it forever, there's always other stuff you could do 🤷‍♂️

Many years ago. My dad suggested to me that I should become a pilot and that he'd pay for flying school. Wonder how that would turned out

That's good that you're trying to change things for the better, these thoughts are plaguing

and trust me nothing would be better if you were popular.. it's better to be a loner than to be famous

Yeah I always think about how little decisions had a huge knock on effect on my life and how if I didn’t make them I’d be in a completely different spot

I had a similar thing, when i was a kid i was suggested by my mom to go to a music school and learn drumming, i could've been soooo good.

i play drums now, but only for about 2 years.

Well i guess there's different definitions of popular, you can still be a very social and NT teenager without being the "popular kid"

i used to be very social before, i stated it in another post of mine, but i was never popular and i liked that.

Yeah I catch myself doing that sometimes, I'm not sure how often i do it personally. When i do catch myself thinking about the past though, I instead begin to live in the present moment, and focus on ways i can act now to help my future self.

Absolutely not, what was meant to be was meant to be. I believe in compatibilism, you have agency over your own actions and you should try your best (or worst, if you neglect) but whatever happens is destiny.

I love being an ITcel personally. Great pay, remote work flexibility, and you get to build things that impact people’s lives. Plus, the field’s always evolving you’re constantly learning something new, whether it’s AI, cloud, or cybersecurity. Everyday i learn something new. I never get bored

I used to do this during my first years at university, but I quickly realized that all my decisions were based on my past knowledge/experiences at a certain point in time, and these factors are 100% uncontrollable by me personally because life itself always hits you with opportunities and chances out of inertia, and most of the time I had no options, bc there was only one choice

Instead, I think about it and feel sad that life didn't offer me more opportunities in other ways (like my high school/university classmates, who could have been much cooler/better looking, more extroverted, richer, organized parties, dated each other, etc. Instead, our class was full of unattractive / poor / introverted people, so it was much harder to form a social life)

It's like thinking every day about why you didn't buy a lottery ticket this week, because maybe you could have won, but then you remember that maybe you didn't have the money or time to do that..

So you never regret your actions?

Well said, about the lottery ticket when I'm an adult I'll probably buy one every week haha :feelshah: You know, they're pretty cheap and won't make a dent in my paycheck, and you never know what happens.
