I dont understand how those some few hundred years ago would find death a reward rather than a fear.

How can someone willingly fight a war for glory with the reward being a honorable death.

Wouldn't you rather live a peaceful life in a small village or town beyond society's normality of a privileged death and have a natural end to life.

religious propaganda, “in the next life you will be rewarded” making people struggle in this life and have a miserable life working and praying and shit so that they can relax in the after life, but i think that we won’t experience after life bcs it doesn’t exist.

Fairs
But how does that make someone not fear death.
Surely its a natural thing to not want to die regardless of what you deem you have been promised on the other side

I'm scared of it because I don't know what will come after it. I hope it's either rebirth (so one day I'll be chad but it's a double edged sword) or just non existence.

That scares me
we were billions of years “suffering” from non existence before we were born, just enjoy your life!! and in the end of it you will know it was all worth it🤩

We didnt exist before we where born. We still have these memory's and other "things" we collect as we live that where impossible to do when we didnt exist.
and in the end of it you will know it was all worth it🤩
But you wont. You will have never existed in the eyes of others if you cannot become something someone dreams to be.

It’s a natural instinct to fear death though nowadays it isn’t really something majority of people think about even though it happens everyday

not really because nobody knows what happens after death. you could only hope for the best
So you live with hope that the afterlife is good.

I think we fear it more now than then because we are more educated in the possibility of what may happen rather than believe 100% that the afterlife is perfect.

The mentality was different back then, people just lived much shorter lives, and pretty much everyone believed there was some kind of afterlife

The Assyrian gods back then literally required the nation to be at constant war to appease him, so dying in battle was seen as some divine virtue
