The replies there are way more interesting tho. I never had an actually good discussion here. The few users that are on neets are way more engaged with the actual topic of a thread, which makes for way better discussions. I think anime/gaiming is about as mainstream as it gets these days. When I liked Anime 1999-2006 it wasn't. It was my little secret that I never talked about for fear of being called a fag.

this seems to happen to literally everything i enjoy, maybe i'm just jaded as fuck from spending excessive hours on image boards as a young person, but literally everything (anime, video games, 4chan, movies) goes to shit when it's mainstream.

this applies to conventions as well when i was a teen i would go to video game conventions and most of the guys their where neck beard types and they where all really cool people despite being kinda weird, now gaming conventions are filled with trannies, redditors and roasties, most people aren't even there for the games anymore the women just go for attention and the redditors and soys just go to worship m'lady.
