For sure wealthy people are more likely to be more conservative. Even though I live in Cali, a lot of people around me, especially the koreans, are conservative. They are all either dentist that run their own business, doctors, chiro, pharm, orthopedic, etc etc. Its usually the poor that are more democratic or the ones that are too addicted to the media

yeah there are timings and luck that plays a part in capitalism but i feel like most of the poors are just poor because they arent disciplined enough. They dont take highschool seriously which leads to them not getting any scholarships, then they bitch about debt and tuitions when they couldve either just gone to community college or just do well in highschool. Especially blacks, hispanics, and women. They have more opportunity of getting scholarships and have lower standards yet they are the bottom of the financial pyramid. They literally have affirmative actions that helps them out but yet they just bitch and victimize themselves, which goes nowhere

This is true as well, there is a point where it's more about people's work ethic than the environment they're in

Ideological thinking is for useful idiots, it's a way to program you to support a package of policies that benefit a particular interest group. This is how you end up with people who make <$100k a year supporting consumption taxes or a flat tax (higher tax burden on workers and lower taxes on capital owners) or taxing young people to pay for old people's pensions.

The best way to approach politics is to look at which policies will benefit you personally. And if you're a politician that's the best way to approach it too but expanding that to yourself + your donors + your base.

But the real question here is if you could actually govern without respect to political considerations, what are the best policies? In my opinion that's an entirely theoretical question with no practical application so it doesn't matter to even think about. If I look and see a rail strike that could cripple the economy, what does a principled conservative/liberal do about that? Do you let it happen because the business owners or the labor unions are being unreasonable? Or do you force a solution on them? The correct answer to avert a crisis is to force a resolution on them that's tolerable to both, but ideological Liberals and Conservatives may have a variety of responses which include allowing the strike to happen and cause widespread economic destruction.

That's my position on questions like God's existence as well. If the question cannot have an answer, then trying to solve it is a useless activity, you are just doing mental masturbation but without an orgasm. However, does religion improve people's lives? Seems like it has in the past and continues to provide some people with a set of morals that help them be a productive member of society and cope in times of personal hardship. But what about cults? Well you should probably ban them so they don't cause mass suicides and terrorism but that's a violation of "muh freedom of religion"
