This tbh. I consider all of my fellow students at uni whom I share courses with to be acquaintances even though I can have a great time with them.
Friends are an exclusive group for me though, they cant be normies and I have to be able to have deep conversations with them. I have 2 very good friends and another good friend.

Same to be honest, I also made the mistake of thinking some of these normies were my friends a year ago.
Nowadays, I literally see it like this:
Acquaintances = normies (=NPCs, could never be my true friends)
Friends = brothers (from another mother), a very select group of people whom you share a special connection with.
