well for gaming they are the best option. For 300-400 bucks you get a platform that supports every game with an adequate frame rate and high graphics. Also there are apps like youtube and netflix available and others if you have Xbox.

To be able to play video games on PC at the level that you play on console you have to pay at least 1000-1500 dollars and even then after 2-3 years you will have to upgrade because new games demands grow.

Yes ideally but the difference in performance is not crazy. Slightly better graphics and 60fps + 4k. Not everyone has 4k monitor or TV and most games are not optimized for PS5.

The PS4 slim will be very good for another 3 years.
