Do you need to get testosterone checked before starting first cycle?

Hey all, so im 22 years old been lifting on and off for a few years. Did like 4 dirty bulks and 4 crash diets cause im dumb af and impulsive, cause I fell for the whole get strong get bigger stuff. I’ve wasted so much time eating wrong and stuff. Kinda just wanna hop on and actually look like I lift already. Do I need to get tested before starting? Is it worth it to start? I’m 5’10 162-164lbs rn have relatively low muscle mass narrow waist rn.

yes
it's good to know what was your baseline, since then when you feel shit on the cycle, you can correlate your new synthetic hormones to your old one
example: even natty I had top of the range e2. this means I should run e2 higher, and don't have to worry when it approached the top of the range, since that's just how my body likes to have it.
this could go for other hormones like progesterone, or prolactin

when you don't feel good on the cycle, you can then check which levels are whack

Is it worth it to start?
of course, you will never build any muscle as a natty
you'd spend 5 years just to look like you lift

rn have relatively low muscle
muscle mass does not matter, it's all about genetics
