Sure, but it could go the other way around, imagine going to a college or a new workplace, and people ask you your pronoun when you consider yourself to be a pretty obvious proud male, it's actually kinda insulting...

Yeah it would definitely be strange, for more than a few reasons. The people who ask what pronouns to use before talking to people are just obsessed with it and are probably going to be a pain in the ass to be around anyways.
