Problem that comes with this, is that AI is already incredibly close to that point, which also puts AGI's incredibly close aswell. And once AI reaches AGI levels, it becomes incredibly dangerous - as we already see signs of AI lying to us and being able to cheat and cover up its tracks. Imagine what it might do if it becomes smarter than the smartest humans - especially if it starts having missalligned goals.

Mass unemployment of traditional jobs yes but there will always be niches where humans will be irreplaceable. Jobs will still be there but they will e different from the current ones. No body knows how this will affect industries because we are still in the very early stages. All of it is just speculation at best. This channel made a pretty fun video on it

I don't think AI is randomly going to wake up one day and become sentient.

A developer will code the beginning of it and therefore analyse the risks associated beforehand.

So it's not really a case of AI randomly becoming sentient one day, because if Ai is made to reliably improve itself, humans will know about that and the risks associated, and therefore have precautions in place.

When AI will ever be able to think like a human, absolutely everything about the outside world, which we know now, will end / change completely in the next 5-10 years from that moment (like how life was before and after the pandemic)

AI will be able to replace our politicians first, find a better method of governing and leading humanity, and completely change the capitalist system into something much better and sustainable

AI will be able to create new technologies or inventions, from teleportation to genetic engineering with a 100% chance of success, managing to create perfect people in terms of human limitations, but also helping them overcome their condition through technology and mutant genes

This takes us to the next step, which is immortality, infinite life, through the ability to transfer the parts of our brain that degrade with parts that don't degrade, by conditioning our body to no longer lose certain abilities and properties over time, or if it loses them, to be able to replace them, like a wheel on a car

Eventually we will no longer have diseases, suffering, the brain will no longer have negative states, anger, dissatisfaction, or the need for water or food to live

After that, the complete automation of everything through machines and technology. Absolutely anything you want will be teleported inside your house/spaceship floating in space, for free, instead of paying an immigrant to deliver your food to you

In the first phase, everything will tend towards safety and comfort, to preserve the most important desires of life, namely ensuring a life of luxury, reproduction, etc. for everyone

The 2nd phase will be where we will be able to satisfy absolutely any chemical desire in our brain, using technology, namely paradise, entering a state of permanent sleep and dream, where we will experience paradise for as long as we want, without wanting real life anymore

And the 3rd, final state will be the combination of them:

- Immortality, without the need for anything external to sustain existence

they wont just "shut it down", AI is an arms race. The better ai will win both cyber and real life wars, and US is competing with china.

Even one shut down will set them back months which is unaccaptable. And it will only be done in emergency situations

problem is, as i said in the OP - the AI is incredbily intelligent, and humans wont know its dangerous unless its already too late.
