Its both. If you got the right prerequisite I believe you get what you deserve.

Greatness is the combination of talent hard work and having the opportunity to use it. No opportunity no greatness but plenty of people are losers and its their fault. So I guess both. People harp on capitalism but there are plenty of losers I know who deserve their outcomes.
