I asked many people to hook me up, find me a girlfriend, anything and they all looked confused and said they didn't have anything or couldn't think who would be suited for me. This came even from some girls who had a reputation as being matchmakers - they had a huge social circle, knew everyone, acted as mediators and would go and ask girls and boys what they thought about someone else to get them together, this was in the era before smartphones, social media, Tinder, etc. - I don't think this kind of stuff is practiced now anymore, everyone is on their own...
