Not quite sure yet in what subspecialty to do it.
Was first thinking about radiology.
Now I'm thinking about asking a professor for maxillofacial plastic surgery tomorrow.

Honestly it doesn't have to be something crazy, I think strategically choosing the right specialty matters more (e.g you want to do something competitive like plastic surgery or derm, do something related to it instead of doing something more complex but not related at all).

How about self-performed facial surgeries and augmentations, it seems to be a growing field now, people are injecting fillers by themselves or doing buccal fat removal.

those are not even remotely close to surgery and it's goes against ethics of medicine that physicians can't practice medicine on themselves. It isn't a growing field, just because you seen cases of some grays pinning their lips and cheeks with filler doesn't mean they know medicine or even better yet are practicing surgery.

It's home-made surgery, it's biohacking, it will become more and more popular in the future...

what you described isn't surgery, it's cosmetic enhancement i.e filler. I've never heard of anyone doing self-buccal fat removal.

There's like a famous topic here, it even ended up in mainstream news:

You've been here since 2020 and have over 30k posts but didn't care to read that the dude practically failed buccal fat removal and hurt himself admitting that he bled way more than intended in contrast to the video he watched. Since he isn't a medical professional. Lmfao. Might as well perform @Clavicular famous buccal fat removal like the dumb girl in his comments on tiktok

Well, he's just starting, I'm sure his next self-performed surgery will be more successful. There are also people in the BDSM community that perform on them genital modifications, castrations, nipple removals, etc., there was even this guy called "the eunuch maker" who got paying customers to cut their genitals, a quite fascinating case...

donโ€™t ask this site about a medical speciality dude. 90%+ of the active users here need to see a specialist is psychiatry before giving advice. Why would you think they know anything about medicine or picking a specialty.

Plastics is super competitive here in ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ idk about Europe.

dis was me on vacation.
dis is me stylemaxxed with perfect ratios.

It's still competitive, but less competitive than in the US I think. You'll probably get a place but if you want a popular location (basically any bigger city) you have to stand out. That's why a doctoral thesis in the field would help. Same goes for Derm.
I'm still not sure what specialty to pursue, but by choosing a doctorate in a competitive specialty, I think I'm holding more doors open for myself down the line.
