Imagine you are 18 and decide to become a doctor Well first you have to get good enough grades to get accepted but let’s just say you do

4 years pre med > 4 years med school (brutal competition if you don’t do well In this stage you risk not being able to land residency and work)> 1-2 extra completing fellowship and that’s only to become a gp which is a low class doctor to become a chad surgeon like plastic or nuero it can take an extra 5 years plus competition wanting you to fail.

All this for a good paying job but by the time you finish you you 31! And instead of partying and mating you were slaving away at your local library JFL

yea but the thing abt medicine is that it is a highly versatile career, now more than ever. you can become a clinician, which is still amazing, if that's what you're into. you could also pivot into research. you could go into healthcare policy or hospital administration. you could also go into pharma, or entrepreneurship where you design and patent new surgical/medical products. now, with AI, who knows what else will be possible
