No, a compact midface can also just be caused by short maxilla that is lacking forward growth
And on the opposite end, a long midface can still occur if it is on a tall enough maxilla that is forward grown
Barrett appears to have average maxilla height, but it is very forwardly grown, giving the appearance of an overly compact midface
