I've been suffering from social anxiety since I was child. Anybody relate?

I avoid people entirely almost all the time now

shit, even my childhood friends too, despite them always being there.

Over for anxietycels like me, i even sometimes cant speak to my parents, not like regular conversations, but just about my feelings in general.

Similar case here.

My parents probably won't take me to a doctor though.

If I tell them I have social anxiety they'd either make fun of me or tell me to just be confident.

Not to mention I can't open up to them about that. That's embarrassing and awkward.

Not all my life, but ever since I had switched to online school since 15 it got terrible. Now I sweat really badly and panic in places like busy stores or restaurants and I try to stay home as much as possible.

Avoiding medication because I'd like to enlist in the military and that would make me not be able to. I'm hoping the experience in it would make me less anxious just via shock therapy

Same

I heavily relate to the last part about confessing to your parents. it feels just so off and embarrassing. feels like I'm humiliating myself if i bring up my feelings to anybody in general

maybe someone .org would understand, someone who doesn't know what I look like or who I am IRL.

Yes but I am overcoming it, I have a severe stutter which stops me from speaking almost always. I have so much to say but my brain won’t let me say it. Prescriptions are bs, they’ll work in the short term but you could become reliant on them and be stuck in a cycle, not to mention the side effects of some of the meds. The method is just to go up to people and talk. No matter what, the baseline is just to talk. Could be to people you know or randome people you see wherever you go. The goal isn’t to not be awkward but just to speak. Ask simple questions if things go silent, literally anything that comes to your brain, it does not matter. Exposure will train the brain to not freak out in those situations. At least that’s what’s been helping me. It gets better, just gotta put the time in.

Same shit happens to me too and I couldn't stand it till my parents got me a therapist, very fun and cheerful lady, didn't help me quite much with anxiety but definitely got me out of it and now I feel better about myself
