I am aware that it is a robot, however, the way it decides moves is extremely impressive. It decides moves by projecting deep into the future, branching out millions of possible move sequences. Now obviously this is widely known but I seem to have a bizarre obsession with it.

it's to me insane too that it understand such a complex game this easily, specially when you think abt the first engines made in the 90's.
Specially with some additional rules line en passant, 50 move rule, three fold repetition, etc.
It has made chess untestable, before engines if a top player made a move only he could explain the reason behind it.
The most insane thing is that it finds the objective best move

The fact that it was created even before AI is even more intriguing to me, the last part of your sentence is also a deal sealer for me, I too find it very interesting for that reason too.

I used to, I mainly played by myself against Stockfish and different engines, however, I did compete in a chess tournament once, the format being the "Swiss System" if you are familiar with that, I believe it was rapid, so 15+10.

In the time I did play, I am most certain I was around 1600-1700, in short, around the level you are at. However this was 5-6 years ago and it has been quite some time since I have properly played.

No idea about stockfish, Ive seen a guy win against it in bullet chess in level 8

Perhaps I may gain interest in it again, I have found myself toying around with stockfish in my free time quite a bit.

That was when I was 11 and those times are long past, but I have no doubt if I dedicated some time to it I would be able to pick it back up.
