Rustam Ahkmetov was a Soviet (Ukrainian) high jumper who was very short for his age when he was young and for most of his life
In order to continue high jumping he would have to get taller no matter what so he devised a plan the mechanism of action seems to be
Causing microfractures in the spine and legs i.e. tibia and femur and then stretching the bones to their elastic limit (yes bones can stretch) causing the microfractures to expand
Then the idea is to get into a deep sleep while stretched to the elastic limit to get into a high GH cycle of sleep and cause osteogenesis in the stretched bone's microfractures
The idea is that you shift the length of bones by increasing its elastic limit which would also increase its resting length
It is similar to how the leg lengthening surgery works in essence
Cut the bone (microfracturing)
Put a crank in the bones that slowly turns them while using osteogenesis to close the gap
I am open to discussion if i can find out more about this i may make a thread out of it
