I think one must be exposed to mogging from a young age to develop a motivation to look good. In Gandy's case this was about women. Our cases it may be similar.

I think they do it intentionally, so that they do not alienate their fans.

Most of these top model guys probably realize how much power their insane looks give them over love, friendships, career, etc. They cannot just say: "Yeah I am attractive so women fall for me without trying, i don't really work and play computer games while y bank account is regularly filled because im THAT handsome"... Fans wouldn't understand
