my hair recently has been falling out like crazy for the past 2 weeks. my mom said it was because i've been taking chrysin and she asked chatgpt if it causes hair loss. chatgpt said it decreases estrogen and increases dht, i take it because it's a weak aromatase inhibitor that might work. i dont think in any world it would increase my dht enough to cause hair loss. also im like 99% sure it's not androgenic balding because its not centered in one spot, it's just all over.

Very unlikely. Oral chrysin has awful bioavailability. 0.003% at best reaches your bloodstream, so systemic aromatase inhibition is negligible. Also, there's a trial which shows there's no measurable change in urinary test (and thus no downstream rise in DHT).

This fits telogen effluvium, not androgenic alopecia. Telogen effluvium usually starts about a month or two after a physiological insult then resolves over the next 3-6 months.

Carry on the chrysin if necessary.

A hair count is an easy non invasive way to judge AGA and TE.

Collect hairs over a number of days and record length and hair fall.
If >10% are < 3cm, you have AGA.
If >100 hairs per day, TE.

The two conditions are not mutually exclusive and can co-exist - likely for males.

i dont know the exact number of hairs but they're all long and over 3 cm

i mean my dad's like norwood 3 and maternal grandpa is fully bald
Okay. I can't say for certain, either way if you have genetic hair loss.

If you do, it's probably in its very nascent stages.

If you have greater hair loss on top vs the back then that is another warning sign of AGA as well.

My advice would be to hop on preventative meds when you turn 18.
Consult with a doctor before you do it though.
