Does contact lens use damage eye area over time?

I want to use contact lenses more frequently instead of glasses but I've heard that contact lens use causes ptosis and scleral show over time. Is this just bs or should I be concerned about this?

My eyes are almond shaped and quite small so I have to manipulate my eyelids to put them in. I thought that tugging on the eyelids would cause drooping.
