Does cranial shape matter a lot?

I've noticed many people have flat skulls at the back, along with many other deformities, either from developmental issues in their infancy or just genetics, does it play much of a role in terms of their appearance? what is the ideal skull shape? and would it be noticeable if they just frauded with hair styling?
