You need money to make money. If you go to a rich neighborhood saying 'I'll walk your dogs for cash' but you look like you're barely keeping life together, they'll very likely deny you. But if you are already working in a bank or something and show up in your office attire saying you just need some extra money, they'll be much more likely to give you the gig. Probably shower you with all their leftover gifts too.
