i’ve been putting crushed flaxseed in my food for the last several months. i put it in soups, stews, add some on avocado toast etc šŸ˜‹

but today my friend told me not to eat it because it contains phytoestrogens and will turn me into a w*man! (っ Āŗ - Āŗ Ļ‚)

he’s lying, right? (,,>ļ¹<,,)

They have similar compounds that make no significant change to your hormones

jfl yes your friend is definitely exaggerating Flaxseed does contain phytoestrogens which are plant compounds that can mimic estrogen a little in the body but eating normal amounts like you do in food will not turn you into a woman In fact flaxseed has many health benefits like improving digestion lowering cholesterol and providing omega 3 fatty acids So keep enjoying it in your soups stews and avocado toast without worry

Yeah I know cholesterol is essential for making steroid hormones and is found in every cell But the key is balance Too much LDL cholesterol can increase the risk of heart disease while HDL is protective Eating foods that help keep cholesterol in a healthy range doesn’t mean eliminating it completely It’s about supporting your body not destroying it

Not exactly LDL itself doesnt directly measure inflammation It mainly reflects how much bar cholesterol is circulating in your blood Some plant foods can cause mild inflammation in certain people but many fruits vegetables nuts and seeds are actually anti inflammatory Overall a plant rich diet usually helps improve cholesterol and reduce inflammation rather than increase LDL
