Does having a solid front and bad side profile mean surgery is a good option?

I discovered this forum back in 2020 after realizing I had been mouth breathing my whole life. Since then, and after learning about “mewing,” I’ve been watching the left side of my face slowly recede, while my right side — although not great — has at least stopped getting worse. This is because the left side of my tongue doesn’t wanna work for some reason. I know my facial recession isn’t genetic, because everyone else in my family looks way better than me. I just want to know how close surgery can get me to the face I was meant to have.

No should only be used for the front

Yeah, I guess my question was kinda dumb. A better question would be since it’s an “acquired” ugliness and not genetic ugliness does that make it more fixable with surgery?

It’s a good indicator that you just have a poor skull all around

Orbital positioning, PFL, midface, philtrum, hyoid, posterior and anterior facial depth, etc
Yes but honestly these are minor failos in comparison to the real problem which is my severely recessed maxilla.

No actually all of those things are caused by your maxilla and facial genetics, and your maxilla isn’t “severely recessed” it’s literally just average :feelskek:

Severely recessed maxilla vs. average maxilla vs. projected maxilla

I’ll let you guess which one you are jfl

Obviously someone that has a class three malocclusion is going to look like they have a more recessed maxilla because only their maxilla is recessed and not the mandible. My full face collapsed because of mouth breathing and improper oral habits. The right side of my face looks better in comparison but it’s still recessed just not as severely. I think djs would ascend me.

People forget that your 3/4th profile is seen the most
