I think it comes from clenching my teeth in my sleep and when i chew gum or do mewing. My ortho said same thing gave me mouthguard.Does having that pain will worsen how my face looks? How to fix it cuz even when i stop mewing chewing i still had it more in the morning.

If it is a muscular problem, you may have hypertrophied masseters. You might also notice a crossbite developing if your jaw deviates/clicks like mine does. I have disc displacement TMJ where the disc is dislocated and I've developed a slight crossbite personally. I've consulted with specialists and my dentist and all they recommended was for me to eat softer foods and not clench so hard at night. They didn't even give me a mouthguard since I still wear my retainer from previous orthodontics and said it should act like one.

In EXTREMELY RARE cases, the TMJ disorder could be from ICR (idiopathic condylar resorption), which is a condition where the jaw condyle literally wears away and recesses you severely. I've seen some pics, it's nightmare fuel for me. However, it's way more common in teenage girls with hormonal problems than men and even then it's rare for that group, so you should be fine. Just notifying you just in case.

All I'd recommend for you is to keep wearing your mouthguard at night and stop any retarded chewing exercises immediately.
