There are reports of ochronosis within 5-6 months of HQ usage, but maybe it could be different for you. Maybe try azelaic acid instead?

3 months on and 1 month off, use kohic acid during it and use azelaic acid during 1 month break

Ochronosis is very rare to occur. It has mostly been reported to occur in people who applied high concentration of hq multiple times a day for years straight (JFL) "Across 72 studies with 20 814 patients using 2%–5% hydroquinone over periods ranging from 8 weeks to 2 years, there were no reports of EO(Exogenous Ochronosis) when hydroquinone was prescribed and used under close medical supervision." As long as you dont use hq like a retard, the chances are close to zero.
