So from what I’ve read , amohetamine is good with helping adhd , because it helps with focus and getting your brain more nt , kind of I guess I kind of understood it like that

Recreationally it’s used so people can get a good hit off dopamine 😋

For anyone that has used it , is it good ?

Is it good for appetite suppression ?

Does it feel good?

Did you use it legally or just for recreational purposes

Amphetamine is a potent central nervous system (CNS) stimulant that alters brain chemicals to increase alertness, energy, and focus. Medically, it is used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. Due to its high potential for abuse and dependence, it is heavily regulated in most countries. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Medical Uses & Availability
Prescription amphetamines are Schedule II controlled substances (e.g., Adderall, Dexedrine). When taken under medical supervision, they help improve impulse control, sustain attention, and reduce excessive daytime sleepiness. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Effects on the Brain & Body
Amphetamines work by increasing the activity of neurotransmitters—primarily dopamine and norepinephrine—in the brain. [1, 2]
  • Desired effects: Increased focus, talkativeness, confidence, and elevated energy.
  • Physical side effects: Elevated heart rate, high blood pressure, dry mouth, loss of appetite, and insomnia. [1, 2]

Risks, Abuse, and Toxicity
Illicit forms of amphetamines are often referred to as "speed" or "uppers". Misuse or taking higher doses than prescribed can lead to severe health consequences: [1, 2, 3]
  • Mental health: Paranoia, hallucinations, and extreme anxiety.
  • Physical risks: Heart strain, stroke, and risk of sudden death in individuals with underlying heart defects.
  • Addiction: Extended misuse can cause moderate to severe psychological dependence and tolerance.[1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

does it get used for recreational purposes?

Yes, amphetamines are widely used for recreational and non-medical purposes. Because they flood the brain with dopamine, they can produce a powerful sense of euphoria, high energy, and extreme confidence.[1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Common Forms of Recreational Use
  • "Street" Amphetamines: Often sold illicitly as a powder or paste known as "speed". It is frequently snorted, swallowed, or injected.
  • Diversion of Prescription Drugs: Medications like Adderall or Dexedrine are frequently misused. They are commonly taken by students or professionals as "study drugs" to stay awake and increase performance. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Specific Risks of Recreational Use
Recreational users often take much higher doses than a doctor would prescribe, drastically increasing the health dangers: [1, 2]
  • Contamination: Street "speed" is highly impure. It is routinely cut with hazardous binding agents, caffeine, or other dangerous illicit synthetic drugs. [1, 2]
  • The "Comedown": As the drug wears off, users experience severe exhaustion, deep depression, intense irritability, and heavy anxiety. [1, 2]
  • Physical Damage: Flooding the system with large doses can result in dangerously high body temperatures, teeth grinding, seizures, heart attacks, or strokes. [1, 2, 3]
  • Psychosis: Prolonged or heavy recreational use can trigger a condition called amphetamine psychosis, characterized by vivid hallucinations and severe paranoia. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

why does it get used recreationally ?

Amphetamines are used recreationally because they artificially manipulate the brain's natural survival and reward systems, delivering an intense physical and psychological payoff. When taken without a medical need—and usually in much higher doses—they alter perception and capability in several distinct ways. [1, 2, 3, 4]

1. Intense Euphoria and Pleasure [1]
Amphetamines trigger a massive, rapid flood of dopamine into the brain’s mesolimbic pathway, commonly known as the reward circuit. [1, 2]
  • The Surge: While natural activities like eating or socializing release a controlled amount of dopamine, recreational doses of amphetamines can cause a surge up to 10 times higher than a natural reward. [1, 2]
  • The Feeling: This results in a powerful "rush" or high, marked by intense feelings of happiness, extreme confidence, and a sense of absolute well-being. [1, 2, 3]

2. Postponing Sleep and Fatigue
By forcing a continuous release of norepinephrine (the chemical responsible for the "fight-or-flight" response), amphetamines hyper-activate the central nervous system. [1, 2]
  • The Physical Effect: This eliminates the biological sensation of exhaustion and suppresses appetite.
  • The Recreational Motivation: People use this effect to stay awake and active for extended periods, such as partying all night, pulling consecutive "all-nighters" to study, or working long shifts without rest.[1, 2, 3, 4]

3. Perceived Cognitive Enhancement
Many recreational users—particularly college students and young professionals—misuse prescription amphetamines as "study drugs" or "smart drugs". [1, 2]
  • The Illusion: The drug creates a strong psychological feeling of hyper-focus, hyper-alertness, and enhanced motivation.
  • The Reality: While users feel like they are performing better, research shows that much of this boost comes from the drug-induced expectation of success and high energy rather than a genuine increase in actual intelligence or learning capability. [1, 2, 3]

4. Increased Social and Sexual Disinhibition
At recreational doses, amphetamines alter social behavior and sensory perception. [1]
  • Social Confidence: The drug removes social anxieties, making users feel exceptionally talkative, charismatic, and outgoing.
  • Libido: It is frequently used to temporarily heighten sensory perception and significantly increase sexual drive. [, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Why This Leads Quickly to Addiction
The very reasons people use it recreationally are what make it dangerous. The brain remembers the massive dopamine surge and rewires itself to crave that substance above all else. Over time, the brain becomes less sensitive to dopamine, meaning the user can no longer feel pleasure from everyday activities and must take increasingly larger doses just to feel normal. [1, 2, 3]

why and how is it used legally

Legally, amphetamines are used as strictly regulated prescription medications to manage specific neurological and metabolic conditions. Because they are classified as Schedule II controlled substances in the United States, their legal administration requires close medical monitoring due to the risk of dependence.[1, 2]

Why They Are Used Legally (Approved Conditions)
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved amphetamines for a narrow set of specific medical conditions: [1, 2]
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): This is the most common reason for legal prescription. In individuals with ADHD, certain areas of the brain responsible for impulse control and focus are under-active. Legally administered amphetamines elevate dopamine and norepinephrine levels to normal baselines, improving focus, reducing hyperactivity, and lowering impulsivity. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Narcolepsy: This is a chronic sleep disorder characterized by profound daytime sleepiness and sudden sleep attacks. Legal amphetamines are prescribed to artificially maintain alertness and keep the patient awake during the day. [1, 2]
  • Binge Eating Disorder (BED): A specific prodrug form of amphetamine (Lisdexamfetamine, known commercially as Vyvanse) is legally approved to treat moderate-to-severe BED by suppressing appetite and influencing chemical pathways associated with compulsive behaviors. [1, 2]
  • Refractory Obesity: In rare, highly specific cases, amphetamines may be prescribed short-term for weight loss if a patient has not responded to other medical interventions. [1, 2]

How They Are Used Legally (Medical Administration)
The legal method of taking amphetamines differs significantly from recreational abuse in dosage, delivery, and medical oversight:
  • Oral Consumption: Legally prescribed amphetamines are formulated strictly as pills, capsules, or oral liquids. They are never legally prepared for snorting, smoking, or injection. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Controlled-Release Formulas: Doctors frequently prescribe extended-release variations (e.g., Adderall XR). These formulations use specialized beads or coatings to slowly release the medication into the bloodstream over 8 to 12 hours. This slow curve prevents the intense "rush" associated with recreational misuse while providing steady, long-lasting symptom relief. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
  • Low, Tailored Dosages: Medical doses start at exceptionally low levels and are gradually adjusted ("titrated") by a physician until a therapeutic baseline is met. These doses are minor fractions of what is typically consumed on the illicit market. [1]
  • Rigorous Medical Oversight: Patients must undergo continuous clinical evaluations. Healthcare providers monitor cardiovascular health (checking blood pressure and heart rate) and track mental health changes to prevent adverse side effects or signs of emerging dependence.

Both should be good
For me personally, meth is THE recreational drug that you could party on. Amphetamine just makes me focused and jittery at the same time, more like a work/study drug. On meth it’s so easy to lose track of what you are doing and end up stuck doing some unimportant thing for 18 hours straight while with amphetamine you don’t get that.

That’s so interesting. But if I’m not looking forward on partying amphetamine would be better ?

Don’t you live in Eastern Europe anyway? It’s nearly impossible to find real meth over there, so you’re more than likely to come across amphetamine.
