Since it's technically a largely vascular thing too and not purely muscular.

I used to have pretty good endurance and now I struggle to run even 2km despite being on the skinnier side, literal shit-tier endurance now.

depends on how good your endurance was before. after month long breaks, I can still run a 10k

I stopped doing cardio around when I joined the forum

I could do 10k in just under an hour, never formally measured but maybe 50-55 minutes.

Now I have to stop for breath mid-way on a 2km run, JFL

Your muscle memory is still there, so the form, mechanics and technique for running you have will still be good if they were before, but you will not have the endurance. The endurance has to do with all kinds of shit that starts to deteriorate the day you stop running like muscle size and strength, blood vessel/artery width, oxygen saturation, etc

The issue is that I was given insoles to correct the way I run so I guess my muscles will have to adapt to that too.

I often used to get long-term bruises and skin peeling on the top-inner sides (on and below the big toe) of my feet after runs, especially after competitive events, because of the way I run naturally.
