I always hear that just because you have a 4.0 gpa, it doesn’t mean you’re high iq or smart. It just means that you get your work done and follow deadlines. However, I see this as cope because if you can’t turn in your simple math work on time then you obviously have to be lower iq. I know there’s outliers who are high iq and genuinely don’t care about school and vice versa, but I believe students who are taking AP, AICE, or IB classes and doing good and passing the test, are way smarter in general than students who are taking regular classes. Maybe this is a no shit thread but I can’t fathom how some people are struggling in environmental science, or algebra 2. I’m not even trying to act like I’m super giga Einstein smart, but it doesn’t make sense to me.

People who say that it doesn’t correlate are just coping

It obviously does, it’s just that it doesn’t necessarily warrant high-IQ. You can score points by having decent memory but not great ability to learn, but generally, the better you perform, the higher IQ it implies.

No you’re just good in spiking your cortisol

No but I think standardized testing scores do.

Yes Obv, it's mostly habit and consistency but iq matters alot like it's evrything in every field

I have 9623 clients on marketing I'm high IQ eventho I got 1.4 GPA

The correlation would be weaker, the younger you are. It’s only meaningful after Highschool

Your IQ contains many variables from pattern recognition, logical reasoning, visuospatial intelligence, etc..
Your grades are the result of more than your IQ. Especially for secondary school, crystallised intelligence, efficiency of study habits, memorisation, discipline, etc, are more of a determining factor. Your fluid intelligence gets tested in higher education
In secondary school, there’s very little depth for application of knowledge. There isn’t enough complexity to allow for a gap in achievement to be sufficiently caused from differences in fluid intelligence
