When I started university, 5 years ago, pick up was starting to fade off. I'm not sure when it was really big, probably a few years before that. But there was a guy Julien Blanc that was probably the best pick up artist of all time and was actually cool and I watched his stuff. They slowly moved into self-development and now do videos like any classic self-help guru. It's like a cult though once you buy in. My roommate and I were pretty into it for awhile and would hit on tons of girls at bars and get shut down by tons, except when our confidence was high and we would get tons of girls to make up but banging was still difficult. It was all about vibes and you would get the girl fairly easily, to dance for sure at least.
Looking back though. It was all down to the fact that we were 5'8 at the time that we even needed pick up in the first place. I'm a bit taller now (5'9) but in my head initially it didn't click that height was the primary problem, and thought pickup was the be all end all of getting girls. Looks mogs pickup artists at all times, and you don't go down a slippery slope where you can become known as a creep if you are incel when you start (I wasn't but PUA did change some of my mindsets that were off, plus i'm good looking so it's harder to become known as creepy). Also looks is more sustainable by far. You can always improve your body and face like a sculpture if you're careful but with pickup new trends of nice guys finish last then people become assholes, then girls like nice guys again. Looks will always stay. Height is the main thing that stays unfortunately but face helps a lot as well. Even gymcelling doesn't give much for gains realistically past the point of being not out of shape.
But yeah, does anyone do PUA anymore?
