I specifically have my hair layered to accentuate the curls.

If it’s as tragic and ethnic-looking as people here think, I can either grow out the layers or cut the layers out so it’s more uniform, it’ll be much straighter. Alternatively I can cut it much shorter, curls will instantly disappear.

Regarding what you implicitly mean by that, you are right.

Most fixations are pretty transient and inconsequential, but appearance is a dark rabbit hole and can really wreck your life, so best to get rid of this ASAP.

I’ve defied so many assholes telling me to cut/change my hair over the last few years.

And I was really my about to let some pedantic incels dictate what I do with it.
