Planning to get some use out of my regimental tie it is is just sitting there collecting dust also it was issued to me when I was part of Infantry so it is not stolen valour. Already have the exact blazer from ralph lauren with golden buttons and wide lapels and checkered grey trousers and shoes.

The tie doesn’t match the aesthetic.

Ceremonial functions like Mess dinners, Commemorative banquet etc. Especially the ones that had civilian guests

You wear the tie when there is a formal function and you have normal people who are not in the military attending. Full ceremonial uniform is intimidating ,the tie is a way to represent their units in a polite civilian setting.

How did you become a 2nd lt so young? What was your path?
I wasn’t a commissioned officer, I served as a Company Under Officer (CUO) in a youth military training program formally attached to an infantry regiment. As a CUO, I was responsible for leading and managing my company. We received basic arms training, participated in multiple annual training camps. I also attended a few special training camps for advanced weapons training and shooting competitors, had daily drills and taught fieldcraft and leadership under the supervision of regular officers.

I did not attend a military academy or go through the highly selective officer commissioning process, which has a success rate of less than 1%. Our selection involved a written test and a physical assessment, with results announced within a few days. The selection rate for my batch was around 22%, it is competitive but far less intense than formal officer training. We were given all the honors and facilities like food, ration, uniform like a regular soldier but it wasnt a 24/7 thing. I was also pursuing my degree in the meanwhile. You can think of it like a more serious and adult version of Hitlerjugend
