in my opinion and my exeperience. if you get dry skin from tretinoin it means you are applying it too much

its just generic Retin A
you will experience peeling and sensitivity if you never used or used Retinoid of lower strength like Retinol or Retinohydrate

the thing is that you should use Retinoid you can tolerate the best
the general hierarchy looks like this
Tretinoin > Retinohydrate > Retinol > Retinol Esters
If you are fine using Tretinoin off the bat there should be no issues
using Retinol or some lesser retinoid to get used to it is not a bad idea especially for some longer period like 4 weeks
if Retinol is cheap enough for you its worth it as introduction or backup plan
