does tooth extraction surgery recess your jaw?

i have a tooth extraction surgery in july. idk which teeth are being pulled, will update on that when i can, but my friend told me it recesses ur jaw
ps, is a palate expander a substitute for tooth extraction?

Any teeth other than wisdom teeth will recess your jaw. Palate expansion definately eorks., but I think you need surgically assisted palatal expansion due to age.

so u can sub the extraction for palate expander?
the palate expander might not make enough room in the specific area the tooth needs to be in. Im not sure though, I dont have enough information.

There are other expansion routes that you can go down to make more space. Not just a expander

yes tooth extraction is usually due to crowding cuz u dont have enough space in your mouth. A palate expander would be great based on your age you might get marpe or rpe. If you extract your smile will be narrow too it will not look very nice
