Does widening the lips make them thinner?

I have big lips and a mainly think it’s because my lips are narrow because of narrow palate (30mm).

So when I widen my lips via a palate expander and lip stretching will it cause my lips to get thinner. Or will it just cause the illusion of getting thinner because they are wider?
