im almost two weeks in and no gap. im getting 6mm tho but my ortho said i might get one and if i do they will fill it.

I was aware of this, but tbh that would be a plus in my case

Try and look into FME instead, much better at giving symmetrical expansion (won't be perfectly symmetrical but still)
