Ideally always start with a leaner base if you are going to bulk, I would advise to go even leaner if you plan on bulking afterwards since you would get that shrinkwrap effect on the muscles if done right. I dont recommend bulking though, just maingain if you are not very skinny

How much of a calorie surplus when u maingain

Maingaining means eating at maintenance and focusing on getting stronger at your lifts. You avoid bulking or cutting and just eat at maintenance and gain just as much muscles without having to bulk or cut. The good side is that you dont need to starve yourself or stuff yourself with food, the bad side is that you need more discipline year around.

if your skinny fat just lean bulk theres no point cuz you have nothing under it

I made barely any gains while maintaining.

Everyone responds differently I think but I also think its mental. If you bulk or cut you can see significant progress in 4 weeks if you are consistent and have a good plan but if you maingain its harder to track, imo if your lifts are getting better, your mood is good and your measurements go up in the right places its working.

So, bulk and cutting faster and easier. Maingaining harder to gauge and track since maintenance is difficult to estimate, and progress takes longer.

Ok, it's decided. I'm going on lean bulk.

Depends. You can probably gain muscle/burn bodyfat if your caloric intake is 100-200 more and it's proteins.

Much easier to do it on roids.

If I roid I will have to cruise for the rest of my life though

Bs

For the average person, their definitely going to gain fat but it really depends on the surplus your on and the food you eat in said surplus, it could be that you even lose fat (unlikely or placebo), but even if you do gain fat, it could be really minimal and unnoticeable if your surplus and the food you eat is close to perfect and it's done with consistency.

330-430 kcal surplus is slightly excessive, go for 200-250 max if you want to minimize fat buildup.
