Does your skin always worsen initially when using tretinoin?

If I hop on tret i am scared it will fuck my already ok skin. I really just wanna hop onto it to get glassy collagen maxxed skin but i dont wanna ruin the progress I have already made in terms of skin .

Did your skin turn to shit when you first tried or was it minimal side effects?

Didn't use it long enough to see any change beside dryness.

I didn't put it close to my eyes. I left the whole orbitals unsmeared. However, I've had dry eyes previously before (which I thankfully healed), so it's possible it triggered me much more than an average person.
