Doesn't carnivore nuke your IGF-1?!

I'm saying this as someone who was a carnivore for 3 weeks...but 2 weeks ago. I didn't quit for this reason, but if I'm to return, I will need this answered

My concern arose after reading this study(its abstract but whatever man).
These effects appear to be mediated by systemic endocrine mechanisms; circulating IGF-1 levels are diminished because of hepatic resistance to GH.
Especially if you do OMAD, your hGH levels will be very high. However, it won't able to do much because hGH is useless on its own for longitudinal bone growth. You need IGF-1. The small insulin release you get from fat and protein consumption will not necessarily be enough to reverse this resistance and produce IGF-1.

Short periods of hyperinsulinemia are very beneficial for IGF-1 levels for the following reasons

Insulin is molecularly similar to IGF-1, so an increase of insulin means more IGFBP is bound to insulin instead of IGF-1, giving you even more free IGF-1

insulin stimulates hepatic IGF-I synthesis

increases the fraction of circulating free IGF-I by downregulating hepatic synthesis of IGFBP-1 and, to a lesser extent, hepatic secretion of IGFBP-2

higher insulin levels in the portal circulation upregulate the growth hormone receptor
The last thing will cause you to secrete even more hGH, which would cause even higher amounts of IGF-1.

Yes, there is also associated studies to carnivores having less bone density

The only reason to eat carbs is pre workout to fuel your session, wether you are natural or not.

I have done all diets apart from vegan. Full carnivore is based if you don’t workout at all, and I got the most shredded I ever have on it.

The only reason to eat carbs is pre workout to fuel your session, wether you are natural or not.

I have done it all, 0 carbs, keto, high carb.
Carbohydrates are a source of energy yes, but you do need glucose to signal mTOR and growth pathways, by just eating carnivore you are willingly choosing not to.

The science doesn’t mean shit. People now grow up to be subhuman due to their carbohydrate filled diet with a lack of micronutrients. Meat is the most importnt part of the diet and should be the main part.

theres probably a compensatory upregulation of igf1 receptors and other pathways, i wouldnt think it makes too much of a difference. and yeah i still think carnivore is one of the best diets for naturals, if youre really concerned about carbs/insulin/igf1 then add fruit post workout, youll stay in ketosis that way and still get an insulin spike when your hgh is high

Later, in 1924, MacLean (7) fed 50 g of meat protein to two subjects, one with and one without mild diabetes. The theoretical amount of glucose that could be produced was 25 g. However, there was no change in blood glucose

The idea that 50-80% of your dietary protein becomes glucose is a myth.
 
The pro-carb guys are glazing too hard and the zerocarb guys are hating too hard

There is no level of health or optimization that carbs give you that you cannot get while keto-adapted on carnivore. Their only purpose I can see is for blood sugar and IGF-1 spikes. I outlined a guide in this reddit comment(that is my account). I'll post it to r/carnivore in a while إنشاء الله.

I forgot to mention this in my comments, but according to the OP of that reddit thread, bovine colostrum has bioavailable IGF-1 as well. Didn't research that but I'll take his word for it.


Carnivores, critique the "takeaway" section as needed - using logic, not brainless insults.

I agree this does seem ideal
You would probbaly also want to drink a ton of raw milk for lactoferrin and stuff and pasteurized milk from injected cows for orally bioavailable IGF-1.

Gluconeogenesis doesnt apply to fatty acids in humans.

With your theory they should he mogger due to sky high igf1 through constant eating of carbs. That’s not the case. Optimal diet is what we evolved off, which is prominently meat.
