Alcohol is losing popularity cuz most people used to only ever drink when they are out and about socializing and since that's becoming more rare, they simply stop, except for maybe a couple isolated alocoholics. I think phones/social media also play a role, at least in a small circle situation. Muh health has less to do with it than people make it seem.

Interstingly enough, nicotine consumption has gone waaay up in the past years esp with jits
