Doing a one product online store worth it?

I have some product from a friend available. He imports stuff from china. So i am thinking about selling one of these electronic gadgets on a one product online shop. Marketing with FB, instagram and google ads.
Anyone already tried such things?

Oversaturated. you will waste money on ads and probably make nothing but will gain experience so why not

Drop shipping is over saturated and social media ads are increasingly expensive. Also the conversion rates are probably not going to be very good so you'll end up losing money. People usually won't buy from one product stores either as they look a bit dodgy usually
