With how hard it is nowadays to get a job, there is a huge influx of people looking for jobs out of desperation and now companies are taking advantage of niggas thirsty for some cash. Now if you go on indeed 99% of the jobs you see are either ghost jobs (jobs that never hire and just want to look like they are for investors) or commission only jobs. A high influx of commission only jobs is actually a sign of recession btw, you know the economy is bad when almost every job now is just scams or slop. One of those that's really popular now is Door to door sales. Now you rarely ever just see it advertised as "door to door sales" on indeed, cause if it was advertised like that nobody would want to fucking join.
They typically advertise it like
- Appointment setter
- Sales Assistant
- Sales Management
etc. etc. basically they make it some extravagant sounding name to lure you in but in reality all it is is you knocking on peoples door and getting cussed out. So just off rip the job is already very sketchy in how they advertise. Their typical targets are people who are teens or in college, they see it as a huge opportunity to make money and advertise its flexible hours. Sometimes it’s even advertised as having a high salary (usually they put like 50k-100k) which sounds very enticing but in reality most people rarely ever make a single dollar. The top salesmen make about 50k-100k a year but anyone who claims to make more than that is likely just making it from selling courses on how to do D2D if they even make it at all. When I first joined someone I was with who was working at the company for 3 months didn't make a single dollar. And no he didn't necessarily have a bad pitch he was pretty sociable and knew how to talk to people it's just people didn't wanna buy shit from some random person at their door. Even if you do make any money the reality is it isn't consistent. You might make 3-5k in one week and the next week make absolutely 0 and then if u average it out between both weeks u basically made 1.5k from 2 weeks (before tax). This is why the salary is so deceptive. u never know if ur going to make any money. if u have a emergency or need to pay something off quickly u are really just gambling. You also got to factor in that your wasting gas driving to all these different areas where u door knock. Also I will mention even if you do get a sale the payment is very sketchy. You get a very small percent of the commission (usually significantly lower than 50%). Some companies make getting payment extremely hard and it’s not even instant. Quite often can take weeks to months before you even sniff the money. So if you sell something today if you even get paid at all you might get that money in 6 weeks Jfl after the insurance goes through
Now lets talk about the actual job and let go of the shitty/deceptive pay. 99% of people who u knock on the door will tell u to fuck off basically off rip. of the 1% who give you a chance to talk 99% of them will just waste your time or just tell you to come back another time (they don't really wanna do it they just want you to leave) u have to deal with constant insults u might have a gun pulled on you or a dog chase you. You could possibly even get sued if you say the wrong things and the doorbell camera catches you. And just so you know, your boss doesn't give the slightest fuck about you. Its not even a real job so they will let go of you in a instant. Anything that doesn't have a guaranteed payment isn't a fucking job its just a gig. How much u make depends on how people feel at the houses u knock at and how much they waste your time
Literally the only people who make any money in door to door sales are low inhib scamming assholes who literally don't give a shit about people or anything. The whole job is centered on lies, literally everything is a lie from the hiring process to you trying to sell people. And btw even the services are fucking shit. Almost any fucking company that has to have people knocking on your door to sell you shit is most likely garbage or low quality. If they were good they'd make enough from honest business instead of scamming elderly ladies. They literally tell you in training that you shouldn't leave until they told you no multiple times and that you should "handle objections" (i.e basically debate the person and use psychological tricks to trick them into buying something they don't fucking want)
after my 2nd day on the "job" (unpaid labor) I just packed up and went home jfl it was a meme.
If you are job hunting just keep looking, skip over those shitty door to door jobs, I now make about 70k a year at 19 cause i kept looking instead of doing some shitty fake sales door to door bullshit. Don't waste your time. I worked fast food and can guarantee u even working fast food was a better experience than door to door sales.
REMEMBER THE ONLY REAL SALES JOBS ARE WHEN U ARE INSIDE A BUILDING PEOPLE WALK IN AND YOU TRY TO GET THEM TO BUY A CAR OR A PHONE, ETC ETC. THOSE ARE LEGIT JOBS. DOOR TO DOOR KNOCKING ISNT A REAL FUCKING JOB
