Vineyard Vines has been very popular in the last few years; The way they cut their shirts, however, accentuates the hips. I had this conversation with a friend one night about how my VV shirts ruin my taper; He said he felt the same way. So I looked into it.
I'm comparing here two stores: Vineyard Vines & H&M. In theory, based on who wears the clothing and who the clothing is marketed to, VV should have a better V taper than HM. The inverse is true.

As you can see, VV models aren't terribly wide hipped compared to HM models. They're more built and chad looking. But the clothing makes all the difference. VV bottoms add lots of fabric around the hip area due to the loose fit. While on their own that should make your hips look more in proportion, HM actually wins here because their shirts have less fabric at the bottom, so they cover less of the hip on top of less fabric in their bottoms, making the whole outfit better. VV has too much fabric in the hip.
Many chads won't have the problem you have here - But they still do buy clothes that are a size too small. Vineyard Vines is very long, so a you can do this and still have a normal looking shirt. If you're going to wear VV, get a size smaller than you would normally get.
